Ladder Safety – how safe is your ladder?

Hey Guys,

Safety is often the main topic in our blogs, for the very simple reason, it prevents you from getting hurt.

Ladders are a versatile product that many home-owners and tradespeople take for granted. After all, a ladder can give many years valuable service and unlike other items such as tools, never show any signs of something not being quite right with them until the inevitable accident occurs.

At BPS Access Solutions, we spend many hours ensuring that our ladders are the most superior available on the market today. We ensure that only the best materials and construction methods are employed during the production of not just our ladders but our scaffold towers too.

Do not leave it too late to replace your ladder

Hey Guys,

It is very common for us to hear stories from our customers which lead them to decide to change their ladder – from a faithful wooden companion which has no rubber feet and is well over 40 years old to actual ladder breakdowns caused by incorrect usage such as a DIY ladder being used for trade purposes.

Many of our customers have been incorrectly advised or had no advice at all when they brought their ladder so often we’ve found their ladder they have been using was unsuitable for the purpose used for.

Check out the video we shared on our website here: https://www.laddersandscaffoldtowers.co.uk/blog/uncategorized/do-not-leave-it-too-late-to-replace-your-ladder/

Are you using your scaffold tower safely?

Hey Guys,

What is your opinion on a scaffold tower?

Scaffold towers are the ideal solution to working at height and are a useful alternative to a ladder. You are able to work freely with your materials and tools without balancing dangerously on a ladder.

By now you are probably guessing that scaffold towers are deigned for larger jobs. Indeed they are designed for jobs such as painting, access to a large area of work such as stairwells and are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

The added advantages of scaffold towers is that they do not need to be re-positioned often. The risk of slipping is also eliminated. No matter now well a ladder is positioned, there is always risk of slipping.

Working safely at height – selecting the right equipment

Are you using the correct equipment when it comes to working at height?

Do I need a ladder? this is the question to ask yourself every time you have to work at height.

Ladders are involved in more falls from height than any other kind of work equipment. Usually the accident could have been avoided.

Rather than reach out for a ladder, take a few steps to consider how to complete the job in the safest way.

Is this the most dangerous step ladder ever?

Hey Guys,

What do you guys think to this step ladder?

This image will be familiar to fans of Harry Potter’s Order of the Phoenix where the image of the snarling caretaker Argus Filch climbing a teetering 100 foot stepladder to nail the Orwellian Proclamations to a stone wall is repeated quite often throughout the film.

Perhaps a good lesson to us all – not to repeat what we see! Unfortunately there will be no potentially powerful wizard who comes to our aid to make things all good again!

Cats use one of their nine lives on a loft ladder

Hey Guys,

Have you seen this video of a cat falling down a loft ladder?

There is a reason why cats have nine lives as demonstrated by this amusing video!

For all animal lovers out there, no cats were harmed during the making of this video clip.

Cats, being the inquisitive creatures they are, had to try and defy gravity and show us there is no need for a loft ladder…..you simply leave the loft like this…

Our Industrial scaffold towers meet the highest Safety Standards. Does yours?

Hey guys,

When it comes to scaffold towers it is important to us that we meet the highest safety standards.

It is your peace of mind that our products have been tested and inspected to meet a high standard of safety. BSI is the number one certification body in the UK and the US. BS EN 1004 looks at the design of mobile scaffolds and tower scaffolds made of prefabricated parts. It also discusses safety and performance requirements and shares additional information on complete towers.

To ensure your safety and that of your employees, it makes sense to ensure that the scaffold tower you purchase is suitable for your needs and you are not putting anyone at unnecessary risk.

BPS – Internet shopping without the frustration

Hey Everyone,

Want to know the benefits of BPS compared to other online shops?

We’ve all been there – spending hours googling a product we desperately need, the latest must have product or the product that is not available on the high street!

Only to find it is either out of stock too on the internet or the delivery times are too far ahead – and you need the product tomorrow!

It also astounds me how long it can actually take to source the right product – I spent a whole afternoon a couple of weeks ago sourcing an item I needed urgently only to find the delivery time scales were just too far ahead…..unless I was willing to pay an extortionate price – which I personally believe is a hugely unfair levy on a paying customer.

Why are podium steps the preferred choice of safety officers?

Hey Guys,

Do you know why podium steps are the preferred choice of safety?

Whether working alone at home or as part of a team in the workplace, any work performed at height comes with a variety of risks which are difficult to eliminate with simpler ladders or stepladders.

For the individual working alone in private premises, the outcome of a fall from height especially while using tools can be debilitating if not fatal with no one to raise the alarm.

The only way to truly reduce the risk as much as possible is to use the most stable and strong equipment such as a set of podium steps.
